Fascia replacement: uPVC fascias, soffits and gutters
Fascia replacement means removing or checking the old boards, repairing any rotten timber behind them, then fitting uPVC fascias, vented soffits and new guttering set to the correct fall — one roofline job, one access setup, within 15 miles of our Hampton base.
What a complete roofline replacement involves
We survey the existing boards and gutter runs, remove the old fascia, soffit and guttering, deal with rotten timber ends where they are found, then fit the new uPVC roofline and downpipes. Vented soffits help keep air moving at the eaves, while correctly spaced gutter brackets and a tested fall move rainwater to the outlets rather than letting it sit in the run.
A useful quote should distinguish full replacement from over-cladding, state the gutter profile and downpipe work, explain the access required and include removal of the old materials. If the timber is sound, covering may be appropriate; if it is soft, hiding it behind new plastic only conceals the problem.
How to choose the right specification
- Ask whether the existing timber will be exposed and checked before new boards are fitted.
- Confirm that eaves ventilation, gutter falls, outlets and downpipes are included.
- Compare the full written scope, including access and waste removal, rather than the board colour alone.
- Bundle fascia, soffit and gutter work when each part is due so the access is paid for once.
Fascia replacement FAQs
Should fascia, soffits and guttering be replaced together?
They work as one roofline system. Replacing them together lets the gutter brackets fix into sound fascia, allows the soffit ventilation to be checked and avoids paying for access twice.
Is covering old timber with uPVC enough?
Only when the timber beneath is sound. If it is soft or rotten, it should be removed and any damaged rafter ends dealt with before the new fascia is fitted.
How do you check new guttering?
The run is fixed to the correct fall, joints and outlets are checked, and the system is tested before old materials and debris are removed.
