We work within a genuine 15-mile radius of our Hampton (TW12) base, covering new roofs, flat roofing, roof repairs, and fascia, soffit and guttering work.
A proper quote states the scope in detail, the materials by name and grade, access and scaffolding, waste removal, what happens if hidden timber damage is found, the guarantee, the payment schedule and a clear list of exclusions.
Ask for the public liability certificate showing the insurer, policy number, cover level and expiry date, then ring the insurer or broker to confirm it's live. Check the company or trading name on Companies House, verify the address independently, and never pay a large deposit in cash.
A materials deposit of 10–25% is normal on larger roofing jobs and often nothing on small repairs. Stage payments should be tied to defined milestones — scaffold up, strip and deck complete, covering complete — with the final payment made only after you've inspected the finished work.
